Calcium-Based Grease
Calcium-based grease is a semi-solid lubricant formulated by dispersing a calcium soap thickener in mineral oil. This versatile grease provides excellent water resistance, corrosion protection, and adhesion properties, making it suitable for various industrial and automotive applications.

Key Characteristics of Calcium-Based Grease:

  • Free Acid: 0.2% wt – Ensures minimal acidity, reducing corrosion risks.
  • Penetration (unworked and worked): 1000 (ASTM D-1298) – Measures grease consistency and resistance to deformation.
  • Dropping Point: 102°C – Indicates the temperature at which grease begins to liquefy.
  • Flash Point: 174°C – Ensures thermal stability and safe operating conditions.
  • NLGI Grade: 3 – Represents a thick consistency suitable for heavy-duty applications.

  • Soap Type: EP – Extreme pressure-resistant formulation.
  • Dropping Point: Min 180°C (ASTM D-566) – Ensures stability at high temperatures.
  • Worked Penetration @ 25°C:
    • NLGI 1: 310-340 mm/10
    • NLGI 2: 265-295 mm/10 (ASTM D-217)
  • Mineral Oil Viscosity:
    • @ 40°C: Min 160 cSt (ASTM D-445)
    • @ 100°C: Min 15 cSt (ASTM D-445)
  • Water Wash-out Resistance:
    • NLGI 1: Max 10%
    • NLGI 2: Max 5% (ASTM D-1264)
  • Copper Strip Corrosion: 1b (ASTM D-4048) – Non-corrosive to copper components.
  • Oil Separation (18 hours @ 40°C): Max 5% (ASTM D-1742) – Ensures minimal leakage.
  • Operating Temperature Range: -20 to 120°C – Suitable for diverse environments.
